SAV - Seismo@School Visualization of earthquakes

General description

The Seismo@School web application (SAV) offers the possibility to visualize current and past earthquake events on a map. This application was specially developed for use in educational institutions to provide students and teachers with a user-friendly platform on which they can track and analyze earthquakes and seismic waves.

The main purpose of the application is to display data from seismic events, which are represented on the map by symbols. Users can select specific earthquake events via an intuitive user interface, examine their strength and location and view them on a map. In addition, by selecting measuring stations, seismic recordings can be viewed in the form of seismograms. This allows the various waves generated during an earthquake - such as P-waves (primary waves) and S-waves (secondary waves) - to be analyzed directly.

To use the application, select any earthquake event from the list or directly on the map. You can then select different seismic stations to analyze the specific seismograms of this earthquake. This allows you to determine the arrival times of the P and S waves and draw conclusions about the exact location and strength of the earthquake.

The application also makes it possible to compare different earthquakes over a certain period of time and to carry out a more in-depth analysis. In this way, the understanding of earthquake processes and the effects of seismic waves on different geographical regions is deepened.
